MEDIEVAL CONNECTION traces the lineage of an ancestor in Ireland, Rebecca Julian, who married William Carter about 1785. It runs back through several centuries to the court of William the Conqueror in 1066-1068. Before that, the trail is more legendary than factual, but the ancestry appears to originate with the Gherardini family of tenth-century Florence, Italy.
