Birth*Richard Carter was born circa 1785 at Ireland; Little is known about him, except reference to him in Robena Carter's notes.
She refers to him as a brother of Robert Carter and she also links Wellesley Township to his name.
Wellesley Twp is part of the Waterloo area west of Toronto. 
He was the son of William Carter and ? Carter.

Birth*James Julian Carter was born on 18 October 1810 at Ireland.1 
He was the son of William Carter and Rebecca Julian. 
Marriage*James Julian Carter married Mary Brinnon circa 1835 at Ireland; We know they were married in Ireland, because at least one child, William, was born there, according to Pearl Wood and Susan Corner.
As corroboration, an email from Barb Milburn 12 Apr 01 says three children born in Ireland, and three in Canada.2,3 
Emigration*James Julian Carter emigrated in 1838; Emigrated from Ireland to Canada c. 1838 reportedly with three children, William, Margaret. for sure, but not sure of the third. Four children baptized in Canada: Joseph Henry, George Thomas, Eliza A., and John.

Death*He died on 14 August 1847 at Otonabee Twp, Peterborough, ON, Canada, at age 36; On his tombstone: James Julien Carter. Presumably this was an error, and it should have read Julian.4

Birth*Mary (Polly) Carter was born circa 1794 at Ireland; Robena Carter's notes said that Polly was a sister of Robert Carter. ok. But the notes also said that Polly was not from Ireland. This poses a little puzzle, because it seems improbable that any of the offspring of William Carter and Rebecca Julian could have been born in Canada. Maybe England?
However, the death certificate of her daughter, Rebecca (Cowan) Plunkett states that Mary (Polly) was born in Ireland. It seems probable that Robena's notes were wrong. 
She was the daughter of William Carter and Rebecca Julian. 
Married Name As of circa 1826,her married name was Cowan.
